Southwark Council’s public litter bin removed or stolen

Reported via mobile in the Litter Bin - Move or Remove category anonymously at 17:12, Mon 11 August 2025

Sent to Southwark Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8010472.

Southwark Council’s public litter bin has been removed or stolen. Please could you review and reinstate the bin so that rubbish is not thrown on the floor due to the absence of the bin.

A similar issues was raised previously but marked as closed and resolved. For clarity, the bin that has been removed is not a private bin, it is a public Southwark bin that has been removed. The previous response was: “Thank you for reporting this matter. Following our investigation, no action can be taken because it is the responsibility of non-local authority or privately owned/operated organisation. Your case is closed.”

However, if Southwark have appointed a private third party to provide public litter bins on public pavements/footpaths, please could you clarify the position and identify the entity responsible.

Thank you in advance for reinstating the public litter bin.

As requested by Southwark, a new report was opened rather than updating a previous report “If this problem is still ongoing, please open a new report instead of updating this one.”
