Rubbish on the pavement and in the road.
Reported via desktop in the Flytipping - Other (Unidentified) category by Vladimir Lebedev at 11:45, Monday 14 April 2025
Sent to Southwark Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7432290.
On Rope Street, between Ensign House (Tavern Quay Sweden Gate) and the Sports Centre, there are two street bins where large bags of rubbish and food waste are often left. At night, foxes tear these bags apart and scatter the contents across the pavement and road.
In addition, residents are leaving bulky household waste (as shown in the attached photograph, for example, a cat tree tower).
Could you please address this situation? It recurs regularly and needs a lasting solution.

As anticipated, the blue refuse bags have been torn open by foxes, leaving rubbish scattered across the pavement, the road, and the car park near the Sports Centre. I would be grateful if you could investigate the matter and take appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence.

I would like to keep you informed that refuse sacks continue to be left on Rope Street, and foxes are still tearing them open. Consequently, residents are confronted daily with an unpleasant scene.
May I suggest the following measures: 1. Speak with the concierges of nearby buildings and the staff of the Sports Centre to determine who is depositing large refuse sacks beside the street bins. 2. Inform local households of the correct disposal points for bulky waste. 3. Install lockable containers, suitable for this type of waste, within easy reach. 4. Identify and fine offenders to discourage further breaches.
These steps should help prevent a recurrence of the problem. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
