Public Highway Damage / Illegal Works

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 18:31, Monday 24 February 2025

Sent to Southwark Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7182326.

Outside Tower Bridge Court, on the corner of Shad Thames and Horselydown Lane, the construction works have dug up the public highway and have laid strips of tarmac instead of the granite sets. This is public highway maintained by Southwark Council, and no private contractor should be digging this up. There is again another large hole in the road as of today 24/02/25, carried out by unauthorised private contractors. I'd appreciate is Southwark Council could take appropriate action to ensure the works are authorised, and the high quality granite sets road surfaces of Shad Thames are retained (and not changed to cheap tarmac through unauthorised works). Thank you.
